Starting Over

I am sorry for missing in action from the blogging world for the last eight months. There come times in your life when you have to sit back and take the easier road for a while and put a few things on hold. I am hoping that things are starting to turn around for me and that I can stay relaxed and stress free and not feel overwhelmed when it comes to what should I write about on my blog today. I try not to get to personal and sometimes I write an entire post and when proofreading I realize my readers really don't care about all this extra stuff. So here is to one of many "New Beginnings" for me!

Fall is creeping in....it was 34` here this morning. I am getting excited to start my fall decorating. The summer weather took quite a toll on my geranium and petunias, very rainy, then very hot, then back to very rainy. So on my to do list for today I need to pick up a couple of mums to decorate the front porch. I have a Halloween quilt that I started from fabrics my dear friend Diane Knott gave me in a pick-me up package...hopefully I can get it finished this year...I just ordered a spider web panto for the quilting on it so this should urge me along a bit more. I am thinking a whole cloth quilt with contrasting thread using the spider web panto design could be an interesting Halloween quilt! Things are starting to slow down at the ice cream shop. Everyone has been asking how much longer? Well, that depends on the weather and business! Next weekend is our Fabulous 1890's celebration in my town and if the weather cooperates it shall make for a busy weekend for me! Then we decide day to day. The very wet spring made for me to be busy quilting in the summer. I have never had so many quilts to quilt for others in the summer months. Everyone said....it is all we did when it rained nonstop in the spring! I am already closing in on being booked for Christmas quilts. I have not been exercising as I should and twenty pounds have jumped aboard for a ride. I have to get them off! I feel ugh most of the time....especially when trying to get dressed! So starting this week I have been eating healthier and trying to walk everyday. I have a customer that has lost over 100 lbs and he said watching what he eats and running. He recommends the couch to 5K program online. So I am printing that out and seeing what I can do with it. I am by no means a runner, he says that is what this program is designed for. One of my goals for 2011 was to run in a 5K....maybe I can bump that to train to run a 5K in 2011 and actually do the 5K in 2012.

Brrrr!

It was minus 19.8 degrees at my house today! Good day to curl up by the fire with a quilt that needs binding and a hot cup of tea! It is 11:00 am here and has finally reached zero! Stew in the crock pot to simmer for the day. Stay warm!

Simplify

Hello to my blogging world friends! I have started the New Year off busy. I have taken the time to surf blogs and have come to an important (to me) decision. One of the blogs that I stalk had a great idea this year.....a one word New Year's resolution. What a great idea! As the blogger said most people make lists and never see them through the first few weeks. My chosen word for the year is "SIMPLIFY". So I went and picked up a little wooden sign that sits in my living room where I see it all the time! I have had a lot of chaos in my life in the last few years and have determined that 2011 will be the year for cleaning up, clearing out and simplifying my life. So more time for me! Hopefully that means more blogging time! Let me know what your New Years resolutions were and if you are following through with them!

Christmas is fast approaching!

Hello! I have still not been able to figure out how to put my pictures where I want them instead of wherever they land. Anyways, this is my progress for the week. I have quilted 2 Christmas tree wall hangings and the little pic beside it is the detail of the holly in the border, one of table runner with the four trees, the star quilt and the basket quilt. I am down to 12 quilts left to quilt for others to have in time for Christmas. Then I can start mine! I would have liked to give several quilts this year but I believe only one is a definite. Next year hopefully my life will calm down and I will learn to say "N-O" better and I will get all of my quilting and all the customer quilting done way ahead. Does anyone else have a problem with saying "NO" when someone wants a bit of help? A bit usually turns in to a major project! I am finding my non-sewing friends come to see me for tips....well tips is code for would you do this for me? Thinking maybe I should just give them all sewing lessons as a gift.

Going to quilt today and part of tomorrow so that I can take Tuesday off to go Christmas shopping and Thursday for Thanksgiving then back to quilt, quilt and quilt.

Weather in Northern PA is to be nice today and tomorrow, High 40's then next week is rain and snow showers. So have to get my walking in and my outside Christmas decorations out this weekend.

Well off to the quilting machine! Hope all of you have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by and spending a bit of your day with me!

Good Bye to another ice cream season

Well the time has come to call it another year in the ice cream dipping business. I will be open today through Sunday and then Sunday will be a bit of a treat for those that stop in for a visit! Trick or Treat is very interesting at the ice cream shop that also carries penny candy. A lot of little trick or treaters stop in to see if they can pick what they would like from the bins ;-}. This year they can! I have been open into November in the past so couldn't give away all the candy, this year I figured would be a great way to clean out and thank everyone for their support!

I have been trying to exercise the dogs and myself lately. I am having trouble outrunning weight! I have 15 lbs free to give away if anyone is interested just inquire. I stopped in at the ice cream shop on Saturday to check in with the girls before I headed out for my walk and ran into an angel in disguise delivering a bag of goodies for me and picking up pumpkin ice cream for herself. There were fat quarters galore and a quilt for me to quilt for this angel. I had been having a rough week and it seems this angel seems to pop into my life when I need words of encouragement or acts of kindness! What happens at The Main Twist stays at The Main Twist so I am unable to identify the angel. ;-) People get really defensive about eating ice cream and others finding out. Me on the other hand.....I eat ice cream! Which is why I have 15 extra pounds!

Ten weeks and I finally have been able to remove the splint from my finger and after two weeks of dealing with an uncooperative club attached to my hand I am almost back to normal. Quilting look out!

My next post should be of all kinds of quilting that I am able to finish with my free time. Check back soon! Enjoy your Thursday.
