Christmas is fast approaching!

Hello! I have still not been able to figure out how to put my pictures where I want them instead of wherever they land. Anyways, this is my progress for the week. I have quilted 2 Christmas tree wall hangings and the little pic beside it is the detail of the holly in the border, one of table runner with the four trees, the star quilt and the basket quilt. I am down to 12 quilts left to quilt for others to have in time for Christmas. Then I can start mine! I would have liked to give several quilts this year but I believe only one is a definite. Next year hopefully my life will calm down and I will learn to say "N-O" better and I will get all of my quilting and all the customer quilting done way ahead. Does anyone else have a problem with saying "NO" when someone wants a bit of help? A bit usually turns in to a major project! I am finding my non-sewing friends come to see me for tips....well tips is code for would you do this for me? Thinking maybe I should just give them all sewing lessons as a gift.

Going to quilt today and part of tomorrow so that I can take Tuesday off to go Christmas shopping and Thursday for Thanksgiving then back to quilt, quilt and quilt.

Weather in Northern PA is to be nice today and tomorrow, High 40's then next week is rain and snow showers. So have to get my walking in and my outside Christmas decorations out this weekend.

Well off to the quilting machine! Hope all of you have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by and spending a bit of your day with me!

Good Bye to another ice cream season

Well the time has come to call it another year in the ice cream dipping business. I will be open today through Sunday and then Sunday will be a bit of a treat for those that stop in for a visit! Trick or Treat is very interesting at the ice cream shop that also carries penny candy. A lot of little trick or treaters stop in to see if they can pick what they would like from the bins ;-}. This year they can! I have been open into November in the past so couldn't give away all the candy, this year I figured would be a great way to clean out and thank everyone for their support!

I have been trying to exercise the dogs and myself lately. I am having trouble outrunning weight! I have 15 lbs free to give away if anyone is interested just inquire. I stopped in at the ice cream shop on Saturday to check in with the girls before I headed out for my walk and ran into an angel in disguise delivering a bag of goodies for me and picking up pumpkin ice cream for herself. There were fat quarters galore and a quilt for me to quilt for this angel. I had been having a rough week and it seems this angel seems to pop into my life when I need words of encouragement or acts of kindness! What happens at The Main Twist stays at The Main Twist so I am unable to identify the angel. ;-) People get really defensive about eating ice cream and others finding out. Me on the other hand.....I eat ice cream! Which is why I have 15 extra pounds!

Ten weeks and I finally have been able to remove the splint from my finger and after two weeks of dealing with an uncooperative club attached to my hand I am almost back to normal. Quilting look out!

My next post should be of all kinds of quilting that I am able to finish with my free time. Check back soon! Enjoy your Thursday.

Great Giveaway

A rainy cool week in Northern Pennsylvania....so been doing some blog surfing. I have found a new blog and they are having a giveaway! Make sure to stop over and check out Glenna's new blog and enter the five drawings being offered! http://www.hollyhockquiltsblog.blogspot.com

Quilting, quilting...I finished three quilts this last week and four the week before. I am trying to stay ahead so I am not feeling overwhelmed when the Christmas rush arrives! Still have a few openings for Christmas projects.

The ice cream world is slowing down. This week it has rained and ice cream is not a high priority in pouring rain. This weekends forecast is for 70's and it is homecoming at the university in our town so this should put a big dent in the ice cream inventory.

I need to get back to quilting! Enjoy your day! Thanks for taking time out of your day to visit with me.

I am Back!

OH My!! How time flies! I did not realize that it had been quite this long! I have been busy, busy, busy. Ice cream time is winding down and I have been working at the ice cream shop more to cover for the kids that have returned to school.

This weekend is the Fabulous 1890's celebration and if the weather cooperates...it will be the last big weekend for my business. The Fabulous 1890's celebration is in recognition of the first night under the light football game that occurred right here in our small town of Mansfield, PA. If you click on the Fabulous 1890's link you can get more information

Right after my last blog post I broke the tendon in my right hand middle finger....fix for that....8 weeks perfectly straight and it will mend itself if you let it bend your 8 weeks starts over. I would have never guessed that my right middle finger really was that important. Typing and writing was a challenge, dipping ice cream was actually quite comical in the beginning. I had a binding to sew on a quilt, my grandmother used to say "looks like a bear cub with boxing gloves" I now have a good idea she would have said that to me! But I have adjusted well and only have 2 weeks to go.

My long arm quilting machine has had no rest. Seems that in the heat of the summer several people stayed in the air conditioned sewing rooms and created beautiful tops for me to quilt! I ave added some pics of the ones I have quilted last week.

Hopefully this week I will get some photos of the leaves changing in our area to share with you. Fall is my favorite season if I had to choose! This morning I had 31 degrees....the fog was quite thick so I believe my tomatoes that I have been waiting to harvest until I had time to make Tabouli will be okay. My pumpkin patch did not like the high temps of summer so I need to go on the great pumpkin hunt soon as well as pick apples for my applesauce and pie filling.

Have a great day! Hugs!

Hello! I have been a bit busy relaxing and taking in some of the sites that are within an hour of where I live. Friday afternoon I decided to travel to Watkins Glen, NY for a burger at the Seneca Harbor Station. Yes, a one hour drive for a hamburger...words just can not explain you actually have to have one to understand or is the burger an excuse when actually it is the view. I had completely forgotten about the Nascar in the Glen race going on this weekend. So the little town of Watkins Glen, NY was hopping!

Then on Sunday I went to the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon that is about thirty minutes from my home. My goal was to catch a glimpse of the sunset....how do you think I did? At my little ice cream/gift shop I talk with tourists regularly that speak of the beautiful views at the canyon. I have not been there in years other than to snowmobile in the bottom so it was definitely a breath taking treat. On my to do list for the fall is to go back and hike on the trails and take these same photos to show you the beautiful fall foliage that tourists come from far and wide to see. Sorry I told you I was not a techy! I don't seem to be able to figure out putting the pics after my paragraph....bear with me I will get it someday! In the meantime the pics on the left side are Watkins Glen the pics in the middle and the right are the Grand Canyon.

Hopefully this week I will get projects and pics flowing. I was planning on finishing the binding on a quilt and making a purse for my future daughter in law this last week and then Tuesday morning while cleaning and defrosting my ice cream freezers I cut my finger quite seriously. The stubborn country girl in me toughed it out and ignored all the opinions that I needed stitches. It is doing very well now so I am blogging and crafting again!

Have a wonderful day!

WOW!! Never thought I would find so many new friends so fast! Thank you to all for your visits and nice comments welcoming me to the neighborhood! I have to confess that I have actually sat with my cup of tea and computer and visited with most of you already... and you have also been my inspiration to join this family. I am by no means a techy person so this blog project has been a challenge I have met all on my own. Well maybe a couple self-help websites to guide me along.

As Diane said I have an ice cream shop and that keeps me busy, busy, busy from mid June to mid August so I will post a few pics from the past project vault and as soon as I am in full swing quilting again I will get pics up of my new projects. Pay no attention to the dates on the pics, I do not take the time to reset the date when I change the batteries in my camera.

I just returned from a long awaited vacation....it had been 15-18 years. Never again will I wait that long! Emerald Isle, NC was absolutely what I needed! One of my new followers lists NC as home...I enjoyed my visit to your state greatly, what a great place to live! Believe it or not I only left the beach when forced to and I did not visit any quilt shops. It was an absolute vacation from everything norm in my life. Just seashells, ocean, sand and sun! I could get used to that! Til I get another minute, have a great day!
